We've updated the USDA food composition database

Nutrition information is always being updated and corrected. Researchers are always looking for more accurate methodologies to determine the exact nutrient value of each food so professionals who work with these databases can deliver the most up-to-date information to clients, such as nutrition professionals when giving dietary recommendations and creating meal plans.

That is why we have updated the USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference, Legacy April 2018 - its latest version.


What have we updated?

Firstly, the entire database was revised and updated according to its latest edition, in April 2018.

It was also integrated on each food the correspondent serving size and common measure, after a thorough revision of all the information provided.

Why is this new update important?

Nutrition professionals need to have available a great variety of foods and food products in order to be able to asses the client's dietary intake and to create personalised recommendations.

To make this job easier, professionals can now use the most up-to-date information about the nutritional value of foods in order to achieve dietary requirements of macro and micronutrients of each patient.

How can I use this new database

We made sure to make this process as easy as possible so the database will replace the previous version added on the software - National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference, release 27, USDA - without affecting any previously made meal plan.

When creating new meal plans or updating them you will now have a wider and updated selection of foods and food products to choose from.
